| Description | Organised by enthusiastic members from our Constituent Bodies in Northern Ireland.
SocEnv will present a Lecture and Discussion at the University of Ulster - Jordanstown campus, commencing at 6.15 pm with a buffet meal. John Gilliland, former President of the Ulster Farmer’s Union and current Sustainable Development Commissioner for NI will briefly discuss the role and work of the UK Development Commission. He will provide a case study of sustainable development and entrepreneurship based on his own willow tree and heat supply business. It is expected that the evening will conclude at about 8.15 pm.
In addition, Prof. Peter Matthews, our Chairman and I will be in attendance. Peter will provide an update on the work of SocEnv and our plans for the future.
This inaugural event will provide an opportunity for members of the constituent bodies of SocEnv to network with each other and consider a range of environmental issues from a broader perspective.
The event is free, but it is essential that Tim Walker has numbers of delegates for catering purposes by 18th November. Please could you let Tim Walker know if you would like to attend by this date. Further information can be obtained from Tim Walker (CIWM/IEMA) - WalkerT@belfastcity.gov.uk or Alan Strong (ICE) – wa.strong@ulster.ac.uk .
I do hope that as many members as possible take this opportunity to attend what promises to be a very informative and light-hearted evening. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible on the night.
