Waste Electrical &Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
Open Meeting & Site Visit - Friday 24th October 2008
The London & Southern Counties Centre is pleased to give notice of an Open Meeting at County Hall, Lewes, East Sussex followed by a visit to the WEEE Recycling Facility operated by M.D.J. Light Brothers Ltd on Friday 24 October 2008.
The open meeting is built around various aspects of the implementation of the WEEE Regulations and the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. Delegates will be able to learn from the experiences of both public and private sector involvement with WEEE. There will be items of interest for those engaged in the electrical and electronics industries, the planning, commissioning and provision of operational services, government, local government, the public and private sectors and academics, advisors and consultants. Delegates will be able to question the panel of speakers and to put forward their own views on the issues covered.
After lunch, delegates will transported by coach to M.D.J. Light Brothers Ltd’s recycling facility in Southerham, Lewes, to see at first hand the latest in materials handling and recovery of WEEE. All visitors will be required to abide by Light Brothers’ HSE rules.
This meeting, which will count towards Continuing Professional Development, will commence with registration at 10.00hrs and will conclude with return to County Hall by coach at approximately 15.30hrs. Refreshments during registration and a buffet lunch will be provided and are included in the fee. The cost of the coach journey is also included in the fee.
The delegate fees are £25 for CIWM full and affiliate members, £15 for CIWM Graduate Members, £36 for non-members working for a CIWM affiliated organisation and £45 for non-members (inclusive of VAT). There is a maximum capacity for this event of 40 delegates and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Booking forms and cheques should be sent to the Honorary Centre Secretary at the above address.
