Company Description		Avery Weigh-Tronix is showing its new onboard weighing systems including its skip weigher, plus a Bridgemont weighbridge, and beltweighing on its stand N54 at the CIWM show. Also on the stand is a driver-operated control for weighbridges called TouchDoc and its new XR Series of LED remote displays The company claims that new digital load cell technology will make onboard weighing more reliable. This is because the temporary presence of moisture in connectors does not affect digital data transmission. In an analogue system this would stop it working. Avery Weigh-Tronix believes that their system will reduce downtime by up to 80 percent and states that it is also easier and faster to maintain. Both the underbody and skip weighers use digital load cell technology with two-wire data transmission through standard auto-electric cable – a first for the UK. If maintenance is needed, using an auto-electric system means that spares are easier to source and maintenance is simpler and quicker. Avery Weigh-Tronix can also call on a national team of more than 250 service technicians and a bespoke calibration service. For skip weighers an elasticated type cable, originally developed for the defence industry, connects the load cells for telescopic systems. These run down the inside of the lifting arms for protection and are connected to the truck for power. The system is easily fitted to both new build and existing vehicles. Operation is simple and quick. The skip is weighed as it is lifted and there is an audible warning if it is too heavy. Finally an optional printer in the cab allows the collector to present an on the spot ticket for the customer. Bridgemont weighbridge Well known for its weighbridge technology, Avery Weigh-Tronix will have its BridgeMont mild steel weighbridge on its stand. This weighbridge can be surface or pit mounted and has simple foundations and a bolt down design for fast installation. It is four metres wide, making it suitable for wider vehicles and offers drivers improved safety if they need to dismount from their vehicle. It is available with a wide range of software options and can be linked to driver operated consoles, automatic number plate recognition technology and traffic lights and barriers as part of a complete system. TouchDoc The company’s driver operated console for weighbridges, TouchDoc, has large touch screen keys and graphical characters and a high definition TFT display for clarity. It can be customised to suit different needs and has a flexible easy to use interface. A common requirement is for a multi-lingual interface enabling overseas drivers to use the system. Mounted at cab height, it means that there is no need for drivers to leave their vehicle. XR Series On show for the first time at CIWM is the XR Series of LED remote displays. Designed to display data from weighbridges, rail scales and batching systems, they are suited to a wide variety of applications in the quarrying and recycling industries. Available with a choice of 2, 4.5 or 6.5-inch digits, the remote displays are easy to read, even at a distance, meaning that the driver can remain in the safety of the cab, for better site safety. The high-intensity, red LED characters can be seen from up to 325 feet depending on the model and, with a filtered lens, are clearly visible in all indoor or outdoor light conditions, including direct sunlight. An ambient light sensor adjusts display intensity automatically for day and night operation. Beltweigher Also on show by the company is a trade approved beltweigher that offers waste and recycling operators guaranteed, OIML-approved weighing accuracy that is up to half a percent better than standard models.
