CIWM Cymru Wales Site Visit: New transfer station for Cardiff County Council and new food waste collection scheme
Venue: Lamby Way, Cardiff
During October this year Cardiff County Council introduced segregated food waste collections to every household in the capital city. The introduction of this service coincides with the opening of the authority’s multi million pound waste transfer station at Lamby Way, Cardiff.
Both ventures are designed to ensure the capital city has the waste management infrastructure to meet the needs of a rapidly growing and vibrant city economy and achieve the challenging targets for waste arising set by European and UK governments.

Excellence Wales National Open Days: Our Environment
Venue: Liberty Stadium, Swansea
Excellence Wales is the good practice recognition scheme run by the Welsh Local Government Association and funded by the Welsh Assembly Government. The scheme aims to improve services to customers and communities by encouraging learning and sharing amongst Welsh local authorities and the wider public sector.

This 2 day event will include an address by Jane Davidson AM, and will also include a series of presentations and interactive workshops (showcasing successful authorities) and an exhibition area. The idea being that delegates can wander around, speak to exhibitors, gather further info and contacts etc.- free, fruitful and joined up!. The audience will be local authorities and the wider government family and the third sector at all levels in the organisation.

The following will be exhibiting:

* all successful authorities and those awarded certificates of recognition
* Excellence Wales & the Welsh Local Government Association and representation from WAG (relevant policy areas)
* External organisations including professional institutes
