East Anglia Centre Open Meeting
Venue: Envar Composting Facility, Nr St Ives, Cambs
The Centre Council is pleased to remind members of this unique event.

LATS targets and the requirement to divert biodegradable waste from landfill are increasing the need for the industry to focus on solutions which can deliver. The industry is now setting up kitchen food waste collections and this is now increasing the amount of recyclable material which can be diverted from landfill. With collection rounds increasing, there is a real demand for new facilities to provide the necessary capacity to treat kitchen waste safely.

Organic treatment processes such as composting form a key part of the UK Waste strategy in treating household food waste safely and effectively. These treatment processes will also assist in the processing of commercial and industrial wastes.

This event will provide updates on;
• Relevant regulatory and legislative areas
• An overview of composting and the systems available
• End markets for compost
• And a study tour of the GICOM batch tunnel system which is part of the DEFRA New Technologies Demonstrator Programme

Following on from the successful event last year, the Centre Council is providing an update to members on these key areas facing the industry in the treatment of kitchen food waste. This event is back by popular demand and places are strictly limited.

Two study tours will be conducted as part of the event. Each group will have the opportunity to network over lunch whilst the other group takes a site tour.

Delegates are reminded to bring Safety boots, High visibility jackets will be provided.

East Anglia Centre Open Meeting
Venue: Holiday Inn, Cambridge
The Centre Council is pleased to remind members of this unique event.

Waste Disposal Authorities are facing the dual pressures of:-

The need to have “real time” information on their LATS position

The need to introduce electronic payment mechanisms

Councils consequently have a requirement for computer systems to
deliver these objectives. Such systems can also benefit suppliers by accommodating the electronic transfer of weighbridge information leading to prompter payment and enhanced cash flow.

At this event members will have the opportunity to listen to presentations on the Essex County Council “RAPID” system and the Whitespace integrated data system from council officers and IT professionals. Both of these systems have been specifically developed to meet the needs of waste disposal authorities.

In addition there will be a presentation on the Telemotion vehicle management/ telemetry system. The need to maximise the efficiency of use of the vehicle fleet is an ever-present commercial imperative.

After the inclusive lunch delegates will have a “free format” opportunity to chat to Whitespace and RAPID teams and to look at the live IT systems on laptops in the seminar room.

There will also be a demonstration vehicle from Telemotion outside.
