WASTE STRATEGY FOR ENGLAND ~ REVIEW
CIWM is seeking a suitably experienced consultant to help the Institution develop and present its position on the review of the Waste strategy for England through the preparation of a position statement. The position statement will define and promote views on the content and delivery of the strategy and provide further commentary into the development process undertaken by Defra. USE OF NATURAL RESOURCES
The Office for National Statistics has issued an environmental account for the UK stating that use of natural resources and products has decreased. The statistics also show £33.7 billion were generated from environmental taxation and £2.6 billion spent on environmental protection, with waste and wastewater management making up two thirds of this figure.

LEACHATE QUALITY UNDER THE LANDFILL DIRECTIVE
The Environment Agency has published research entitled: Improved definition of leachate source term from landfills (review of data from European landfills). The report provides a data set of leachate quality from landfill sites that are similar to those that will be developed in the UK following the implementation of the Landfill Directive.

ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION REGULATIONS DRAFT GUIDANCE
Defra has issued a consultation on draft guidance to accompany the updated Environmental Information Regulations (EIR). The new EIR will strengthen existing rules on information provision.

ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR ENVIRONMENTAL TOGETHER ACADEMY
The TOGETHER Academy is at the heart of the Government's drive to improve the response to anti-social behaviour. It aims to offer knowledge and know-how about the many new powers available and to share experiences and new ways of working to help front-line staff tackle ASB. The Academy is FREE and places are limited.
