SUPPLEMENTARY PAPER ON CONCLUSIONS OF WEEE IMPLEMENTATION REVIEW
The DTI has issued a supplementary paper on the outcome of the WEEE Implementation Review, having taken into account stakeholder comments. Key changes proposed include: calculating producer obligations through five categories of WEEE rather than total tonnage; replacing the term “retail compliance scheme” with “distributor deposit scheme”; and introducing safeguards to discourage a producer compliance scheme from handling levels of WEEE greatly exceeding their member’s obligations.
