HAZARDOUS WASTE REGISTRATION
The Environment Agency had reminded hazardous waste producers that their annual registration will require renewing. The renewal system opens on the 15th June, the registration fees will be the same as the previous year's and range from 18 - 28 pounds depending on the method of registration. SCOTTISH STATUTORY GUIDANCE FOR CONTAMINATED LAND
The Scottish Executive has published revised statutory guidance for part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. The guidance provides information on what is deemed to be contaminated land, how contaminated land should be identified, the remediation requirements for contaminated land and recovery of any remediation costs. WRAP BUSINESS SUPPORT FOR RECYCLERS
WRAP has developed a new and extended range of business support services for those involved in recycling. The improved support service aims to provide recyclers with improved access to support from WRAP and also raise awareness of other support organisations and schemes available. FOUNDATION DEGREE EVENT
Energy and Utility Skills are holding a free Foundation Degree (FdSc) in waste management event on the 30th June at their offices in Solihull (10:30-3:00) to raise awareness of the qualification and its advantages, and explore how it could benefit employers. DEFRA WIP EDUCATION & TRAINING PROGRAMME: ON-LINE SURVEY
Defra is undertaking a second annual on-line survey to support work on the development of materials for a new Masters module and two VRQs (in advanced waste management technologies and principles of sustainable waste management), as part of the New Technologies strand of the Waste Implementation Programme.
