EXETER COURT CASE – DONNA WALKS FREE
Donna Challice, was the first person in England and Wales to be prosecuted
for allegedly putting non-recyclable waste into a green "wheelie bin" at her

HSE PUBLISHES REVAMPTED GUIDANCE TO SIMPLIFY
RISK ASSESSMENTS

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have urged businesses to
spend less time dotting ‘i’s and crossing ‘t’s and more time on putting
practical actions into effect. To help companies do this HSE has issued
a revamped risk assessment guide featuring examples that spell out,

REGISTER OR RENEW AS A HAZARDOUS WASTE PRODUCER
Any business producing hazardous waste has a legal duty to register with
us a premises where hazardous waste is produced. Hazardous Waste
producer registrations are valid for twelve months from the date of
registration. If your premises continue to produce hazardous waste after
the initial twelve month period the registration must be renewed. You
can do this up to one month in advance of the expiry date.  For details

CONSULTATION: PROPOSED INCREASE IN THE FEE FOR A
POLLUTION APPLICATION FOR SOME DRY CLEANERS

Defra want views from dry cleaning businesses and trade bodies, local
authority regulators, and any other interested parties about a proposal
to increase from £134 to £200 the application fee that existing dry
cleaners must pay under the Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC)

WRAP's CAMPAIGN BOOSTS SURFACING USE IN THE
LANDSCAPING SECTOR
A WRAP marketing campaign aimed at informing the landscaping

surfacing solution has led to more than 11,500 tonnes of additional
