These regulations come into force on Friday 4 August 2006. They consolidate,
update and replace earlier regulations from 2000 and 2001. They also provide for

NEW CARRIAGE OF DANGEROUS GOODS REGULATIONS FOR 2007
Work is underway on new carriage of dangerous goods regulations for 2007. The regulations will:- Apply to all classes of dangerous goods carried by road and rail;
Apply the 2007 editions of ADR and RID; Replace 4 sets of regulations. For details

CONSULTATION: EU THEMATIC STRATEGY ON THE SUSTAINABLE USE OF NATURAL RESOURCES

FLY-TIPPING BEGINS AT HOME
New data shows that fly-tipping by householders is now costing local authorities as much to clean up as waste dumped by organised waste criminals. VALIDATION OF PLANNING APPLICATIONS
The consultation proposes that there should be a core and mandatory list of national requirements for applicants to comply with in submitting a planning application, which is to be supplemented by a list of local authority requirements. CONSULTATION ON THE ENEGY EFFICIENCY COMMITMENT APRIL 2008 TO MARCH 2011
The Energy Efficiency Commitment imposes a statutory obligation upon electricity and gas suppliers to meet a target for the promotion of improvements in energy efficiency among household consumers in Great Britain through the promotion of measures such as cavity wall and loft insulation, energy efficiency light bulbs, boilers and appliances.
