HOUSE OF COMMONS REFUSE COLLECTION REPORT
The House of Commons Communities and Local Government Committee have issued their report into refuse collection. The report suggests that alternate weekly collection systems have worked in many areas while they felt them unsuitable for Cities and urban areas. The report also criticises the governments approach on incentive schemes as too timid.
See www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200607/cmselect/cmcomloc/536/536i.pdf

WRAP AWC GUIDANCE
WRAP have re-issued their guidance on alternate weekly collection schemes. Included within the revised guidance is a suggestion that to meet Landfill Directive requirements it will be necessary to deal with food waste. The best way to do this the guidance suggests is through a weekly collection of food waste and to process it either through composting or preferably through processes like Anaerobic Digestion. See www.wrap.org.uk/downloads/AWC_Revised_Final_Report_-_130707.6119ed11.PDF

competence under the system, including a proposal by the CIWM and WAMITAB on future technical competence. See www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/consult/envpermitprog4/index.htm
