DEFRA WASTE AND RESOURCES EVIDENCE STRATEGY 2007-2011
Defra’s Waste and Resources Evidence Programme have issued a Strategy for 2007-201. The strategy aims to  support the implementation of the Waste Strategy for England 2007. ENVIRONMENT AGENCY CONSULTATION ON PROPOSED ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION CHARGES FOR 2008/09
The Environment Agency has published a consultation on the proposed changes to its charging schemes for 2008/9. SCOTLAND SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT REPORT
Audit Scotland have released a Sustainable Waste Management report which says recycling rates have gone up, with around a quarter of municipal waste now being recycled. However for Scotland to meet EU Landfill Directive and Scottish Government targets, councils will need to increase their recycling rates and achieve rapid reductions in the volumes of waste going to landfill. ENGLAND SEES BIGGEST RISE IN CIGARETTE LITTER
A ban on smoking in public places was implemented in Wales and Northern Ireland in April, then England in July. Out of the smoking bans England’s streets have bore the brunt of the litter problem with a 43% rise in the amount of cigarette butts dropped on its pavements. LONDON COUNCILS CONSULTATION ON PROPOSALS TO INTRODUCE A LEVY OR BAN ON ‘THROW OUT’ SHOPPING BAGS
London Councils have launched a consultation on proposals to introduce a levy or ban on ‘throw out’ shopping bags across London, as part of the proposed 10th London Local Authorities Bill. CONSULTATION ON A DRAFT SECOND EDITION OF IPPC SG6 FOR A2 ACTIVITIES IN THE SOLVENTS SECTOR
Defra have issued the final consultation of Sector Guidance Note (SG) 6 for A2 activities in the organic solvents sector on the fifth of  the so-called '2-year reviews' of all the sector guidance notes for the local authority IPPC-regime. The revised guidance will be issued under regulation 37 of the Pollution Prevention and Control (England and Wales) Regulations 2000. SURVEY OF FUNDING OF MUNICIPAL WASTE MANAGEMENT KERBSIDE COLLECTION IN WALES

BUILDING CLEANABILITY AWARDS 
The 2007/2008 Awards will cover buildings located throughout Great Britain and Ireland and nominations can be submitted through until 31st December 2007. Each building nominated will receive a detailed assessment for cleanability and the 2007/2008 Awards scheme will conclude with a prestigious Awards Presentation Luncheon on Monday 30th June 2008 in London’s famous Guildhall.
