A NEW PARTNER AND A NEW VENUE RING IN THE CHANGES FOR THE CIWM CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION
The Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) and the Environmental Services Association (ESA) have announced their intention to work in partnership on a prestigious London-based event for the waste and resource management industry from 2009 onwards. The decision will see the CIWM annual conference and exhibition moving to London ExCel, an award winning modern venue, as part of plans to develop the event into a major international showcase for the UK waste and resource management sector. WRAP FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR FOOD WASTE PROJECTS
The Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) Organics Capital Grant Programme VI is now open.  It can provide financial assistance of up to 30 percent towards the capital costs of plant, equipment and infrastructure for food waste processing capacity compliant with the Animal By-Products Regulations in England, Northern Ireland and Scotland. COMMUNITIES AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE FOR SUSTAINABLE HOMES TECHNICAL GUIDANCE
The Communities and Local Government have released the Code for Sustainable Homes, a new national standard for sustainable design and construction of new homes. The technical guidance sets out the requirements for the Code, and the process by which a Code assessment is reached. WRAP RECLAIMED BUILDING PRODUCTS GUIDE
WRAP have issued a building products guide which covers a range of products and materials commonly used in new build and refurbishment for housing, commercial and public sector projects. Its purpose is to help identify how to substitute new products with reclaimed alternatives. Please see

NORTHERN IRELAND WASTE MANAGEMENT LICENCES (CONSULTATION AND COMPENSATION) REGULATIONS

SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT CONSULTATION ON IMPLEMENTATION OF MINING WASTE DIRECTIVE
A consultation has been released which seeks the views of the Scottish Government’s proposals to implement EU Directive 2006/21/ EC on the management of waste from the extractive industries (" MWD") into Scottish law.
