HSE INSPECTION IN THE SCRAP METAL AND METAL RECYCLING INDUSTRY

NEW REGULATIONS ON THE REGISTRATION OF WASTE BROKERS AND DEALERS IN IRELAND
The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government announced new regulations to
tighten controls on the export of waste abroad for recycling and recovery. The Waste Management
(Registration of Brokers and Dealers) Regulations 2008 provide a registration system for waste
brokers and dealers and will better facilitate controls on such persons who arrange shipments of

EPA IRELAND PROJECT FOR THE HOTEL AND HOSPITALITY SECTOR
The EPA National Waste Prevention Programme has announced a project for the hotel and hospitality sector, which will work with Irish hotels over the next four years to improve environmental
management practices, prevent waste and encourage resource efficiency, while reducing operating costs for the sector. For more information see

COMPOST AWARENESS WEEK 2008
This year Compost Awareness Week (CAW) will run from 4th – 10th May. The Composting Association and WRAP are already in discussions regarding the activity and partners for this year.
